Goodnight Sweetheart, Well It's Time To Go....

5 years ago, I took a chance with Fashion Crimes.  I had full intentions of turning down the job, but thanks to the genius coaxing of the FC manager at the time I took the job, and my life subsequently changed.  I started wearing dresses EVERY DAY (and probably always will), I worked alongside so many strong women who I now consider family, and working on Queen Street West made this small town Newfie feel like an honorary Torontonian.  Today, December 7th, is my last day at Fashion Crimes, and thus my final blog post.  I can’t begin to express the gratitude and love I have for this amazingly beautiful dress utopia.  All I can say is thank you.

Here I am on Signal Hill in St. John's, NL striking a pose with a few innocent bystanders.  I am wearing a black 6 way dress with a fabulous blue feather flower fascinator from Fashion Crimes.  I was a brides maid for a great friend who appreciates great style!

You haven’t seen the last of me! Regardless of where I work, I will always be an avid Fashion Crimes shopper.  See you around!  Peace!!

Melissa

There Was A Ghost On Halloween...

How was everyone's Halloween Weekend?  Has it got you pumped for Wednesday?  I saw some terrific costumes on Friday and Saturday night.  Here's a sample of a few costumes that got those finishing touches from Fashion Crimes:

It is I, Melissa, as Betty Boop!  This entire costume was found in my closet, thanks to an ongoing Fashion Crimes wardrobe collection.  The black corset, crini (yes, those are 2 separate pieces but everyone thought it was a dress!), striped thigh-high hose, lace gloves, and pearls are all from Fashion CrimesThe finishing touch: a Betty Boop wig; I found it in our sale wig bin for $5!!

Here is Kat, the lady responsible for our incredible window displays, as Frida Kahlo! She is wearing a Fashion Crimes Holly Boat dress in red impressionist silk, with a gorgeous gold and lucite bangle.  Her finishing touch?  A sexy unibrow!  Only Kat can rock the extra unwanted hair and still look like a babe!

And last but not least, Peter as his dog Fridge!  All Peter had to do to finish off his costume was to pop by Fashion Crimes and pick up a Cat costume set for only $5!!

People!  There's still time before All Hallows Eve, and still lots of great costume deals!  Come and get it!

Rising Star Kira Isabella Cute As A Button In Fashion Crimes

Canadian Country music sensation Kira Isabella has so much to be excited about.  She recently released her debut album Love Me Like That, her first single "A Little More Work" won a 2012 Canadian Radio Music award in the Country category, and she is currently on tour with Carrie Underwood.  Not too shabby for a young lady who's barely 18 years old!

The Ottawa native needed a cute, agrestic type dress to suit her music video and album cover, and Fashion Crimes delivered.  She is pictured above in a Fashion Crimes Jezebel Tivoli dress in black and white gingham fabric accessorized with a red rose stretch belt (how we love that pop of red!).

Click HERE to view her latest music video, featuring that fabulous dress!  You can also catch Kira performing with Carrie Underwood on December 9th at the Air Canada Centre.  Fashion Crimes is so thrilled to see yet another strong Canadian woman pursuing her dream. Way to go Kira!!

Jacelyn Holmes Knows How To Rock Fashion Crimes

Canadian singer/songwriter (and Fashion Crimes besty) Jacelyn Holmes has been a very busy lady these days.  She attended this years Oceana Ball, and looked amazing in a sequin covered Fashion Crimes dress accessorized with a gold gem cuff, gold eagle head ring, and rhinestone flower earrings:

Here is a great pic of Jacelyn posing with Michael "Pinball" Clemons!

Also, Jacelyn donned a cut crystal bodice Sherri Hill dress (available at Fashion Crimes) for her latest video shoot.  She also snagged some awesome Fashion Crimes accessories to complete the look: red satin evening gloves (currently on sale for as low as $5!! What?!), a fabulous red feather fascinator, and a Canadian supplied bleached fox fur stole (click HERE to see why Fur Is Green).  Nothing says the beach like a big, warm, cozy fur!  Love the contrast!

Movember Is Approaching!

It will soon be that time when men of all ages grow out their upper lip hair making it incredibly hard for us women to determine whether these lads are poseur hipsters or ex-porn stars.  All you have to do is check your calendar to know these men are actually raising awareness and funds for prostate cancer.  Does that mean us ladies can't participate?  Of course not!

Fashion Crimes is here to help you join in on the fun. Starting NOW you can purchase your very own moustache necklace and 25% of the proceeds will be donated to the Movember cause.  Currently we are in the process of setting up our Movember account online, but in the meantime we have a donation box at our cash counter...settled right next to our moustache necklaces!

Our fabulous manager, Kanchana, is sporting our black moustache necklace (also available in white and red), along with a Fashion Crimes Holly Skirt in amazing deer print fabric and a pair of faux black rimmed glasses.  These glasses are great for completely transforming any look while still looking super sexy. With Halloween just around the corner, why not use them in a costume?  Think Judah Friedlander from 30 Rock or maybe Janine from Ghost Busters!

Fashion Crimes has so mucho Halloween-o merchandise for you to pick through, and it's all on SALE!!  What are you waiting for?  Let's play dress up!

Fashion Crimes Featured On Premiere Of The Bachelor Canada!

Did you catch the premiere of the Bachelor Canada on CityTV last night?  If you did, you might have noticed one of the bachelorettes shopping for a dress to wear when meeting Canadian Bachelor Brad for the first time at Fashion Crimes!  Rebecca, aka Bubba, is seen walking into Fashion Crimes, and then posing her stuff in a Jezebel Pom Pom dress:

After trying on several dresses, Rebecca was faced with a tough decision.  She needed to make sure the dress she chose would make her stand out from the rest of the ladies desperately trying to catch the attention of Brad.  And the verdict....

Rebecca went with the always classic Fashion Crimes Jezebel Tivoli dress in sequin "seeing spots" fabric, accessorized with a red rose belt (similar to the red rose she was coveting!).  Brad certainly was impressed with her look, remarking it was "very 50's".

How did Rebecca do last night?  Well you are going to have to tune in and see for yourself.  If you missed it, you can catch up by checking out the CityTV website, or by simply clicking HERE.  The Fashion Crimes segment starts at the 07:40 mark, and Miss Rebbecca's memorable meeting with Brad occurs at the 20:28 mark.  I can already tell this season will mark the first of many, and keep in mind, both styles you see on Rebecca are ready for you at Fashion Crimes in a huge array of colours and fabrics!

Rally For Kids With Cancer

Last weekend, members of the Fashion Crimes team had the privilege of joining the good hearted people participating in the Rally For Kids With Cancer gala.  The event was packed with celebrities and various companies who raised money for the cause.

Pictured above is Pam Chorley, founder and designer for Fashion Crimes, standing alongside Playboy cover model Priscilla Caripan.  Pam sported a Vamp Halter dress (a Fashion Crimes original) in peacock printed silk, accessorized with uber long chain earrings and a crystal fringe cuff.  Priscilla wore a Fashion Crimes Tied Up dress in bronze lace and looked fabulous while doing so.  Love these dresses?  Of course you do!  Keep in mind they are both available in a wide variety of fabrics and colours, and can only be found at Fashion Crimes on Queen Street West!

This picture is clearly not the best quality, but that is definitely our very own Cha Cha with Billy Baldwin! When he's not running around raising awareness for amazing charities, you can catch Mr. Baldwin on the hit TV shows Gossip Girl, and Parenthood.  Hopefully when the press pictures are released, you will all get a good look at what the rest of the Fashion Crimes gals were wearing at the event....stay tuned!!

Lily Frost All Lovely In Fashion Crimes

Canadian singer/songwriter (not to mention Fashion Crimes friend) Lily Frost looked stunning in emerald green at last summer's Toronto Jazz Festival. We had the pleasure of styling the beautiful song bird in a Fashion Crimes BlackTie dress accessorized with a gorgeous silver gem collar, crystal link bracelet, and crystal head band.

The pictures do not lie!  Lily looks fabulous!  Remember, this great dress is available in a variety of colors and fabrics, and it can only be found at Fashion Crimes!

Remembering Prom

With another prom season behind us, we have been asking all of you lovely ladies to forward us pictures of your big day in your perfect Fashion Crimes prom dress.  We love how each lady clearly showcased their own personal style and personality through the Fashion Crimes dress they took home.

The beautiful Chloe choose a yellow chiffon, high-low Sherri Hill gown (found at Fashion Crimes, of course), accented with beaded embroidery.  This colour looked amazing with her skin tone; she's as radiant as sunshine!  Chloe makes me wish I could re-do my own prom (anyone have a spare time machine on hand? No?).

The stunning Helen did a fantastic job in her dress choice for prom; a slimming, one shoulder Fashion Crimes gown with encrusted jewels at the colour.  The deep plum colour provides wonderful contrast against her fair complexion, and didn't you know?  Purple and brunettes go together like chocolate and peanut butter; you cannot go wrong with that combo!

Jasmine rocked a Pam Chorley original when she chose the Jezebel Rose Power dress in violet dupioni.  This dress was constructed at the Fashion Crimes studio, with each rosette individually hand sewn with lots of love and care.  Jasmine also took advantage of the amazing selection of accessories Fashion Crimes has to offer; a fantastic velvet rosette belt and turquoise feather head piece that definitely took this dress to the next level.  She looked gorgeous on her prom night, and we love how her make up and awesome nail colour goes perfectly with the entire look.  Great job!

Prom ladies: do you have a picture of yourself in a Fashion Crimes dress on your special day?  Email your pics to admin@fashioncrimes.ca!

Canada Sings Final Episode: GO Transit VS Purdy's Chocolates

The second season of Canada Sings has ended for another year, which means last week's finale had Sharron Matthews rockin' another Fashion Crimes outfit. If you missed it, never fear! Click HERE to watch the entire episode! This time she wore a Fashion Crimes Holly Boat Sleeve dress in periwinkle lace with white underlay, complimented by a white flower belt, rhinestone feather cuff, a little birdy ring, and fantastic tear drop crystal earrings.  I don't think this woman knows what it's like to not look good, because she looks fab-u-lous!

Pictured below is a close up of Sharron's bracelet and ring.  A nice added bonus: that ring opens up like a locket!  You can always count on Fashion Crimes to have the latest and most unique accessories!
Also, judge Laurieann Gibson was seen once again looking radiant in a pair of Fashion Crimes earrings.  Here she is wearing Austrian crystal dangle earrings, which are made in Canada.  Isn't it great to support local, independent artists?  We think so, and so does Laurieann!

While Canada Sings is finished up for now, remember Fashion Crimes is open year round.  You can find all of Sharron Matthew's dresses (which all come in a wide variety of colours and fabrics) and accessories here at 322 1/2 Queen Street West!  See you soon babes!!

The Stylin' Ladies Of The MMVA's

Liz Trinnear and Phoebe Dykstra both looked incredible in Fashion Crimes during last Sunday's Much Music Video Awards.  I could go on and on about how beautiful they were, but I think the pictures clearly speak for themselves!

Liz chose to wear a Fashion Crimes Jezebel Micro Mini in neon yellow glitter fabric, paired with a silver studded bracelet, rhinestone octopus ring, and crystal chandelier earrings.  It is quite evident that she looks absolutely fabulous, and you got to love her choice in shoes.  Slammin' Liz, just slammin'!

Phoebe is wearing a corseted, gem and tulle Sherri Hill dress (available at Fashion Crimes) accessorized with a multi-coloured rhinestone ring that she found at our wonderful boutique.  This dress suits her personality perfectly; fun, colourful, and beautiful!

And with a dress that short, you have to wear undergarments you won't mind showing off!  Lucky for Phoebe, Fashion Crimes carries ruffled lace sissy pants (every pin-up girl's dream) in black, pink, red, and white.  These are a fantastic staple that would look super cute under any dress with a flowing skirt or, ahem, in the bedroom.  Just sayin'.

Canada Sings Episode 5: Calgary Stampede Casino VS Royal Bank of Canada

Wow!  That was one sizzling hot episode of Canada Sings last night!  Part of that was thanks to the sexy performances by both teams competing for their charity, but the beautiful Sharron Matthews burned up the screen in a saucy Fashion Crimes outfit.  Click HERE to watch and see what I'm talking about!

Here is Sharron totally owning a satin leopard print Jezebel Tivoli dress, accessorized with a lace-up waist cincher belt and a fabulous veiled feather fascinator.  For added colour (and added awesomeness), she is wearing 3 crystal bangles in purple and turquoise, with purple gem chandelier earrings (pictured below).  Way to represent lady! And remember, everything you see Sharron Matthews wearing on Canada Sings can all be purchased at Fashion Crimes!!

But wait there's more!  One of the judges, the always radiant Laurieanne Gibson, was looking gorgeous in a pair of Fashion Crimes rhinestone star earrings.  Gotta dig all the Fashion Crimes love on Canada Sings; now all you have to do is get your beautiful self on down to Queen Street West and snag these pieces before someone else does!!
